A good win to stay unbeaten on the year for the Melrose softball team. Melrose won at home over Pierz 7-3.
Melrose had 11 hits in the game. Kaitlyn Klasen and Jaelyn Mayers had 3 hits a piece. Bella Kucehle had 2 hits. Ellie Grieve pitched the win with 11 K.

The Pequot Lakes softball team won at the Sauk Centre softball field 7-1.

A double header sweep at home for the Melrose baseball team. Melrose beat BOLD 3-2 and 6-1.
Game 1: Daniel Spanier and Owen Funk had RBI hits. Jackson Mayers and Nathan Welle had hits. Owen Funk pitched the first 6 innings, Tyler Nathe pitched the 7th and got the win.
Game 2: Owen Funk 1 hit, 2 RBI, Daniel Spanier 2 hits, RBI, Carson Theiler 1 hit, 2 RBI, Luke Funk, Jackson Mayers and Nathan Welle had hits. Tyler Nathe pitched 6 innings for the win.

Softball 4/22/25

Melrose swept their home double header vs Minnewaska, 10-0 in 6 innings in the first game, 12-4 in game 2.
Melrose had 17 hits in the first game, 15 hits in the second game.

Sauk Centre won two games at Benson 19-4 in 6 innings and 13-3 in 5 innings.
Game 1: Sienna Klaphake a home run, Anna Feltman 4/4, Nadia Stadsvold 3 hits.
Game 2: Sienna Klaphake a grand slam home run and a triple, 6 RBI. Jenna Riley 4/4, Gabi Marthaler 3/3, Jenna Riley pitched the win in both games.

Baseball 4/17/25

In one of the craziest baseball games ever, the Melrose baseball team had a 3 run walk off home run to beat Minnewaska 14-13 in the second game of a double header. Minnewaska won the first game 5-4.
It was Melrose catcher Daniel Spanier that hit the game winning home run.
Melrose trailed 5-0 going into the bottom of the 6th. Melrose scored 7 times in the inning and led 7-5 and needed 3 outs for the win.
Minnewaska scored 8 runs in the top of the 7th to lead 13-7.
In the last at bat for Melrose, they scored 7 runs to win 14-13, capped off by Spanier's 3 run homer.

The Sauk Centre baseball team won 5-3 at Benson.
Sauk Centre had Kayden Thieschafer strike out 10 in 6 innings. RBI hits for Evan Zales, Leyton Fuchs and Eli Warring.

The Melrose softball team stays unbeaten on the season with an extra inning win at home Thursday. Melrose scored in the bottom of the 8th to beat BOLD 3-2. Melrose had Celia Schoenberg with the game winning hit.

The Sauk Centre softball team had a 8-3 lead after 4 innings, but Foley came back to win the game 22-8.
Sauk Centre had Sienna Klaphake hit a 3 run home run. Klaphake also had a double.

It was a good baseball game Tuesday, as Melrose won 1-0 over Sauk Centre.
The only run came in the 5th inning. Melrose had Zach Rieland come through with an infield hit, scoring Riley Elfering.
Melrose starter Carson Theiler struck out 8. Sauk Centre had Hunter Dickinson strike out 9 in 5 innings.
Along with the game winning RBI, Zach Rieland hit a double.

The Melrose softball team is (4-0) on the season after a double header sweep Tuesday at home. Melrose beat Montevideo 9-1 in the first game. In game 2, Melrose won 12-1 in 6 innings.

Sauk Centre pitcher Jenna Riley threw a 1 hitter with 12 K. Nadia Stadsvold had 2 hits 3 RBI, Bree Kirk with 2 hits and drove in a run. Peyton Borgman 3 hits, Gabi Marthaler, Sienna Klaphake and Megan Broich had a hit.

The Sauk Centre baseball team split a double header at home Thursday. Sauk Centre won the first game over West Central 9-1. West Central took the second game 5-1.

Every two years, the Minnesota State High School League determines Section placement. It's determined by like classification, member schools are placed by enrollment and geographic location in sports and activities where they compete for postseason play.
MSHSL enrollment is determined by the schools Minnesota Department of Education enrollment in year one in grades 9 – 12, minus 40 percent of their educational benefit. (free and reduced lunch)
