Legion baseball - softball 6/4/26

Sauk Centre Legion softball beat BBE 9-0 in the first game. Jenna Riley threw 5 perfect innings. The teams tied 2-2 in the second game.

In the Section 6AA softball tournament, it was Kimball over Melrose 6-3. Melrose will play again Tuesday morning at 11:00 vs Holdingford at St. Ben's. That will be an elimination game.
Melrose scored a run in the 4th inning on a bunt single from Celia Schoenberg scoring JJ Mayers. In the 5th, Morgan Funk with a hit and then scored on a hit from Gabi Schoenberg. Melrose had back to back triples in the 6th. Allie Hoppe tripled, followed by another triple from Celia Schoenberg.

In the Section 6AA baseball tournament, it was Wadena Deer Creek over Melrose 6-5. The Melrose baseball season will come to an end.
The first run for Melrose was a home run hit by Nolan Fleischhacker in the 2nd. In the bottom of the 3rd, Melrose took a 2-1 lead on a hit from Zach Rieland. With the game tied a 2, Zach Rieland gave Melrose the lead again with another RBI hit. In the bottom of the 7th, Melrose trailed 6-3, with 2 outs, Jackson Mayers hit a 2 run home run to make it 6-5.

The Sauk Centre baseball team played at Spectrum Thursday. Spectrum won the game 3-0 to end the Sauk Centre season. Bentley Ritter had the team's only hit.

The Melrose softball team played very well in the Section tournament game Tuesday. Melrose beat Foley 3-2. Melrose will play again Thursday vs Kimball at 3:00 at St. Ben's. Note game time 3:00. That's a change from the original schedule. Kimball has graduation on Thursday.

The Melrose baseball team swept a double header at home over West Central 10-1 and 11-1 in 5 innings.
Game 1: Carson Theiler had 3 hits and 3 RBI, Eddie Torres and Tyler Nathe RBI hits. Tyler Nathe pitched the win.
Game 2: Jack Tschida pitched 5 innings for the win. Luke Funk had 2 hits and 3 RBI.

It was Montevideo sweeping the double header at Sauk Centre 3-0 and 9-3.
Game 1: Sauk Centre had 2 hits, Leyton Fuchs and Eli Yarke.

Sauk Centre took a 1-0 lead in the 6th inning when Gabi Marthaler scored on a wild pitch.

Melrose collected 12 hits in their win over Osakis.
Melrose scored 9 runs in the 1st inning. JJ Mayers knocked in 2 runs in the 1st with a triple. Mayers drove in 2 more with a single in the 4th. Kaitlyn Klasen a RBI double, Allie Hoppe a run scoring hit, Emalee Klasen a RBI double, Gretta Hellerman brought in a run, Gabby Schoenberg RBI double.

Melrose took a 1-0 lead in the first as Kaitlyn Klasen singled to get on, then scored on a ground ball. In the 7th, Gabby Schoenberg with a lead off walk, Kaitlyn Klasen reached on an error. Allie Hoppe brought in both runners with a double.

Melrose had 16 hits in the game, Carson Theiler had 4 of them.
