A big win for the Melrose boys basketball team Thursday night in the first round of the Section 6AA tournament.
#11 Melrose beat #6 Annandale 66-59. Melrose led at the half 29-28.

#3 Sauk Centre won at home over #14 Pine City 67-40.
In the quarter finals, Melrose will play Sauk Centre Saturday night at St. John's, scheduled for 6:00.

Here is some important ticketing information for Friday at SCSU.
 NO cash ticket sales. All sales are electronic.
Each School has an allotment of lower level tickets. These are $10 - no matter student or adult. Any one wanting to be on the lower level will need one of these tickets. A note, the student standing sections will be on the lower level.
There are also general admission tickets for the upper level. These are $8 for adults and $5 for students.
But - again - anyone wanting to be on the lower level must purchase one of the lower level tickets from the allotment at $10 - student or adult.

The Defenders Afton Vogt takes 5th place at the State, winning her last match by a fall at 2:35.

At the State meet Saturday, Isaac Frericks lost his match by a fall at 4:31.
Afton Vogt lost her opening match 9-3. Vogt won her next match by a fall at 3:17.

At the State wrestling tournament Friday, the Defenders Isaac Frericks won his opening match by a fall. In the quarterfinals, Frericks lost 12-8. In the wrestle backs, Frericks won 1-0. He will wrestle again Saturday at #285 AA. 

At the girls State wrestling tournament, Defenders freshman Afton Vogt will wrestle Saturday morning starting at 9:00 am at #124.

At the Section 8AA individual wrestling tournament, Defenders senior Isaac Frericks finished as the runner up at #285 and will advance the State wrestling meet next week.

The Melrose gymnastics team will be sending 4 individuals to the State gymnastics meet on Saturday in St. Paul starting at 11:00.

Girls basketball                                             2/21/25

In the final regular season game in girls basketball, the Sauk Centre girls won at Melrose 69-34. Sauk Centre led 31-19 at the half.
For Sauk Centre, Cierra Kortan 24, Elly Herickhoff 11, Tory Jennissen 8.
Melrose had Lex Vesel 8, Kaitlyn Klasen 7.
